Boston Lyric Opera will present Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress in a new production by Allegra Libonati that will set the story of Tom Rakewell through the eyes of the composer himself.

Set in William Hogarth’s London, the opera marks the endpoint of Stravinsky’s neoclassicism and tells a bawdy tale of self-destruction. The cast features Ben Bliss in his BLO debut as the restless Tom Rakewell, Anya Matanovic as Anne Trulove, Kevin Burdette as the cunning Nick Shadow, and Heather Johnson as the bearded lady Baba the Turk. Yury Yanowsky will appear as Stravinsky and David Angus conducts.

The Rake’s Progress will open 3 p.m. Sunday and will run through March 19 at the Cutler Majestic Theatre. blo.org
