The Berlin Philharmonic has a rich tradition of chamber music, with several of its members performing in small ensembles throughout the season. One such group is the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, formed in 1988 as a permanent ensemble.

This Friday night at Jordan Hall, the quintet will make an appearance in Boston to perform works by Mozart, Ligeti, and Nielsen. Kalevi Aho’s Quintet No. 2, will receive its Boston premiere.

The performance will take place 8 p.m. Friday at Jordan Hall. celebrityseries.org; 617- 482-6661
