Critic’s Choice
Chorus pro Musica, under the direction of Jamie Kirsch, will return to Sanders Theatre Saturday night for a sweeping program of music that will include works by Britten, Pärt, Mendelssohn, Betinis, and Guillaume with a little James Taylor thrown in for good measure.
But the highlight of the concert will be the world premiere of Andy Vores’ Spencer the Rover, a work for chorus and slimmed-down, British-style brass band. Based on an English folk song, the piece tells of a man who leaves his family for life on the road. His journey ultimately leads him home again to be with his family as, he discovers, that it was the thing he longed for most of all.
The concert will take place 8 p.m. Saturday at Sanders Theatre. choruspromusica.org
