Celebrity Series to launch genre-traversing festival in March

Roomful of Teeth will perform in the Stave Sessions festival March 18.

The Celebrity Series of Boston will gear up a new project in March spotlighting contemporary, crossover and world music designed to appeal to younger audiences.

The Stave Sessions will present concerts from March 15-21 at 190 Mass Ave., an intimate performing space at the Berklee College of Music. WCRB 99.5 is the official radio partner for the Stave Sessions.

The weeklong festival will kick off March 15 with music of the Brazilian bossa featuring Greek singer Banda Magda and composer Magda Gianniko. Singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane will perform March 17, along with singer-bassist Kate Davis.

The vocal octet Roomful of Teeth presents two shows on March 18. Another double bill is on tap March 19 with cellist-storyteller Ben Sollee and folk singer-guitarist Becca Stevens.

The string quartet Brooklyn Rider will perform March 20 in two shows as will composer Max Richter March 21.

Program details are to be announced. Ticket prices are $35 for cabaret seating and $20 for balcony standing. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 12. Go to celebrityseries.org or call 617-482-2595.
