Christoph von Dohnanyi has cancelled his Tanglewood concerts this month with the Boston Symphony Orchestra due to illness in his family.

The three programs will be led by a pair of substitute maestri. British conductor Edward Gardner will make his BSO debut July 18 in a program of Strauss, Copland and Beethoven with baritone Thomas Hampson.

And Manfred Honeck will assume podium duties for the program of July 25 (Beethoven, Mozart and Mendelssohn with pianist Paul Lewis) and July 26 (Mahler’s Symphony No. 2).
