Boston Symphony opens new online project after cancelling season
The Boston Symphony Orchestra has cancelled the rest of its season, like many other symphonic ensembles across the country. But the orchestra is doing its part to keep its performances available to the public with a new online initiative.
Starting 10 a.m. Monday, the BSO is offering six weeks of curated audio offerings under the title BSO At Home. The first week will spotlight music directors past and present, including Andris Nelsons, Seiji Ozawa, Erich Leinsdorf, Charles Munch, and Serge Koussevitzky.
BSO at Home will also offer self-produced videos from BSO musicians and conductors featuring anecdotes and personal reflections.
Also beginning on Monday 99.5 WCRB Classical Radio Boston will partner with the orchestra for BSO Encores, Nightly @8. The series will present a past Boston Symphony Orchestra performance 8 p.m. every evening Monday through Saturday.
First up on Monday is a 2014 concert led by Andris Nelsons that offers Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8, Bartok’s Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6.
