The Linde Center for Music and Learning will open its doors this summer at Tanglewood. The new four-building complex will serve as a place where audiences and students can interact with leading artists, musicians, and academics.

The Linde Center will serve as the summer home of the Tanglewood Learning Institute (TLI), a program series that will offer seven different cultural and educational events beginning this June at the new building and other Tanglewood venues.

A speaker’s series, “The Big Idea,” to be held on designated Saturdays at Ozawa Hall, will feature high-profile cultural figures and thinkers discussing the ideas driving today’s world. Other events, to be held in Studio E of the Linde Center, will include “Full Tilt” and “Meet the Makers,” both of which spotlight major artists sharing their inspirations and experiences. “TLI Open Studio” will offer master classes by visiting performers.

In collaboration with the Berkshire International Film Festival, the “Cinematics” series will explore the relationships between film, music, and human endeavor. “Focal Point” will present workshops for amateur visual artists in collaboration with the IS183 Art School of the Berkshires. And “String Quartet Masterpass” will be an eight-day exploration of quartet literature by the Juilliard String Quartet and fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center (June 22-30).

In addition, the TLI will present four programs in conjunction with Boston Symphony Orchestra performances at Tanglewood this summer. The first “TLI Weekend” will explore the inspiration behind Kevin Puts’ The Brightness of Light, which will be premiered by soprano Renée Fleming, baritone Rod Gilfry, and the BSO (July 19-21). Lectures, film presentations, and panel discussions will also highlight Andris Nelsons’ direction of Wagner’s Die Walküre with the orchestra (July 26-28); the 2019 Festival of Contemporary Music, under direction of Thomas Adès (August 8-12); and John Williams’ Film Night (August 23-25).

TLI presenters lined up for this summer include Nelsons, Madeleine Albright, Emanuel Ax, Stephanie Blythe, Renée Fleming, Michael Gandolfi, Doris Kearns Goodwin, John Harbison, Yo-Yo Ma, André Previn, Joan Tower, John Williams, and many more.

The Linde Center will open June 28 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a free, weekend-long open house.

Designed by William Rawn Associates Architects, the Linde Center is the largest building project at Tanglewood since the construction of Ozawa Hall in 1994. The climate-controlled buildings will feature state-of-the-art concert and rehearsal space that will be open throughout the year for events sponsored by the TLI, BSO, and Berkshire community.

Tickets for programs at the Tanglewood Learning Institute as well as for the entire Tanglewood season so on sale Sunday. Tanglewood.org; 888-266-1200
