Fleming, Hampson, and Barenboim featured in Celebrity Series’ starry 2012-13 season

The Celebrity Series of Boston will offer an array of classical superstars in its 2012-13 season including Renée Fleming, Thomas Hampson, Daniel Barenboim and Gil Shaham.

The season will open October 5 with pianist Daniil Trifonov, the first of five events to be presented in partnership with the Longy School. The other artists in the previously announced Longy series are the Pacifica Quartet and clarinetist Anthony McGill (Oct. 24), violinist Vilde Frang (Jan. 23), guitarist Miloš Karadaglić (Feb. 13) and soprano Susanna Phillips and tenor Joseph Kaiser (May 1).

Soprano Renée Fleming will appear in a duo-recital with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham at Symphony Hall on Feb. 3. Other vocalists include baritone Thomas Hampson with the Jupiter String Quartet in a program including a new Mark Adamo work (April 26), soprano Karita Mattila (Feb. 8), and baritone Nathan Gunn (March 15).

Daniel Barenboim will being his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, composed of Israeli and Arab musicians, to Symphony Hall Jan. 27 and Vladimir Jurowski will conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra with guest violinist Vadim Repin March 8.

Violinist Midori will mark the 30th anniversary of her recital debut on Nov. 4. Gil Shaham returns Feb. 10 in a program that includes William Bolcom’s Suite No. 2 for Solo Violin, a Celebrity Series co-commission. And Hilary Hahn will present selections from her eponymous 27 encores along with music of Beethoven and Bach March 1.

Pianist Paul Lewis performs an all-Schubert recital Jan. 12. Other keyboard artists include Evgeny Kissin (April 21) Jeremy Denk (March 2), Jonathan Biss (March 22), and Rob Kapilow and Judith Gordon (Oct. 28).

Chamber groups include the Takács Quartet and pianist Marc-André Hamelin in a program of Haydn, Schubert and Shostakovich Nov. 16. The Emerson String Quartet returns Dec. 2 in a program featuring Dvořák, Schumann and Brahms. On Feb. 24, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio will present a Boston premiere by composer André Previn. Violinist Itzhak Perlman will be joined by the Klezmer Conservatory Band March 3. The James Galway Legacy Tour takes place March 24, and the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet performs May 3.
